The spiritual aspect of Bàbá King’s family
His mother Àlàké was born into a family of Órìsà priests. Her mother Kéyìndé Eniosó was a priestess and the founder of Omolú Burùkú temple in Kénta Okebodè in Abéòkúta. The grandfather of his mother was a priest of Ògbóni.
His grandfather on the father's side Sàlàkó Sàlámì was a Bàbáláwo. The father of the mother from his father’s side was also a priest, and Olúwo. Even after 150 years he is still popularly known as Olúwo Imo, he was a strong spiritual leader, thus after almost 200 years since he was born people still know him, because he used to be responsible for the social wellbeing of this community.
By combining the spiritual mission of his ancestors from both sides Baba King was born to be a healer, a priest. They knew he inherited a part of this spiritual influence from his ancestors and because of this, right from his childhood on he started to accompany his parents, his uncles, his aunts to experience the Órìsà philosophy.
In his predestination was a mission to be a priest, a healer, an admission to do things that others would not do. And with his Western education he managed to spread the Órìsà philosophy also on the academic level. This is the origin of his spiritual mission to put the continuity to what his ancestors had allready started.
He has his spiritual recognition in Abéòkúta, where he was named Bàbá Egbé of all the Bàbáláwos in Abéòkúta and Bàbá Egbé of all Órìsà devotees, priests and priestesses.
His children also have the mission to heal, this is why they are all encouraged to study medicine. Because everyone will not be priests, but they still can fulfill the part of this Sàlámì mission, which is to heal either spiritually or by any other sort of therapy.
